Choctaw artist, Judith Durr's original oil paintings are internationally recognized. As a Native American artist, Judith Durr has a dynamic and unique style with her  painted illusion of textures and fabric. Judith is known for her native beaded moccassin paintings and the detail paintings of her rug background. Setting her work apart from other still life artists, Judith's signature is the detailed  painted rugs in the background of each her still life paintings. Her exquisite paintings is done with layers, time and patience.

" My passion is the journey of producing the superior oil  painting. I maintain my identity and heritage through my artwork. "  Judith Durr

Judith consistently paints the detailed rug background from the rugs she has collected over the years. Many of the native rugs, beaded mocassins and the jewelry Judith uses, are old family pieces acquired while her family lived on the Navajo reservation in Montezuma Creek, Utah. It was these formative years that have given Judith Durr's the inspiration for her exquisite oil paintings. Some of her artifacts come from Judith's talented family members, her husband, mother, father and son. She collects the Native artifacts, from South America to Canada. These artifacts allow her original oil paintings to be painted strictly from life and not from a photograph.

Judith Durr accepts commission work. You can view the current commission on the "Commission in Progress" page of this website. This page allows you view a step by step progress of each commission and your family and friends can see the progress.

"Delaware Moccasins" - sold

These 135 year old moccasins, 1880-1890 circa, are one example of the artifacts in Judith Durr's extensive collection. As the most requested subject in Judith's original commission work, these beautiful moccasins are a testament to the Native American cultures portrayed in Judith Durr's exquisite, distinctive oil paintings. To date, Judith has painted 47 oil paintings of the Delaware Moccasins.

I have designed this site so you may view pictures of my oil paintings and learn a little about the influences in my life. I will be adding new pictures of my work, new products, new projects and commissions in progress. So check back periodically.

Judith accepts commissions. If you have an artifact that you would like to see in a stil life or western life painting, contact Judith Durr for your personal original commission oil painting.
